The St Ledger Revolutionary War Treasure tale is almost a perfect example of how a Treasure lead might get a little confusing after a few hundred years. Lets start out with present day Redwood, New York. It is rather close to the St Lawrence River and one would have to ask why would St Ledger's army be here in the first place? www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nycalexa/alex1855.htm They would have been going in the wrong direction, or was their a reason for the British army to be here? Is this the 'Redwood' that they were talking about? Were they talking about Alexandria Bay? You have to ask yourself all of those questions and you must rule these things out !
Next question you would need to answer, where is Cape Peninsula? Or were they talking about 'Point Peninsula' out side of Chaumont Bay? This was along the water route that St Ledger used on the way to the Mohawk Valley. Maybe their was a settlement in the vicinity of Point Peninsula named Redwood? Or was 'Cape Peninsula' just a long forgotten settlement on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario? This my friends, is where the research starts!
